The Epic WeRunJozi 10K 2012 Nike Run!

Had an absolute blast at the run the people, all 20 000 of them, were awesome the vibe was electric. Was great to see all the different walks of life enjoying a day in the Joburg sun.

The sea of people was both encouraging and an issue, I was a bit further back from the start (read: couldn’t even see it) and there were still thousands behind me which meant that when the start fire went it was about 5-10 minutes before we started moving. This issue kept cropping up along the race with many people walking and thus no one could run through the mass of people. in the end it became more of a We Jog/Walk Jozi event.

It must be said that the Alexandra section was an eye opener as to the state that some people live in but wow what a reception, such enthusiasm and support was nothing short of epic and the kids especially were having more fun than us all stretching their hands out for high fives along the way. Our Nike green bands became quite a wanted commodity amongst the kids they were competing to see who could get them from the runners.

Definitely going back next year!
