For a song called “Time to Dance,” this video sure has a lot of murders in it.
Jake Gyllenhaal gives a haunting performance in the new clip by French dance-rockers The Shoes, as a party bystander with an incurable case of bloodlust. At the start of the video, our villain watches what amounts to a living Calvin Klein ad unfold in someone’s apartment—shabbily dressed bohemians dancing sexy with each other. Soon, inspired by boredom or something else (his motives are utterly inscrutable), Gyllenhaal dons a fencing mask and pretends to attack the female half of the couple with a saber. Then he does it for real.
The rest of the video, which was directed by Daniel Wolfe, juxtaposes scenes of bloody murder in nightclubs and open fields with mundane scenes of an intermittently bearded Gyllenhaal going to the gym and getting a haircut. At nearly nine minutes, it’s an epic in miniature, and one that is guaranteed to make your next viewing of Brokeback Mountain a lot more interesting. The only lingering question is how a French music video possibly beat Hollywood to the punch in producing a killer who’s decked out in fencing gear.
Really can’t stop listening to this girl. I remember when I considered my self a Hard Rock guy, what happened. Just hypnotic, I could so easily fall asleep listning to this softly drifting in the background while memories collude to infiltrate my dreams of girls that were loved and lost.

follows Lana’s first single “Video Games” which began its life online in July accompanied by a video created by Lana. Since then “Video Games” has amassed over 8 million hits and on release hit the i-tunes #1 position in 9 countries including the UK, Australia, Holland and France and is currently #1 in Germany. Also a massive critical smash, it has recently been hailed as the #2 track of the year by Q Magazine, with Q Magazine also awarding her the “Best New Thing” award at the Q Awards.
“Born To Die” is a suitably noir follow up to “Video Games” and is coming with an incredible video conceived by Lana and Directed by Yoann Lemoine. A Remix EP will also be released, including mixes from Damon Albarn, Woodkid and Clams Casino.
“Born To Die” the album is a collection of tracks about which Lana says “The songs I’ve written are an homage to true love and a tribute to living life on the wild side.” Album tracks include “Million Dollar Man”, “Off To The Races”, “Blue Jeans” and “Carmen”.
“Born To Die” the single is released on Sunday January 23rd on Polydor Records on download and 7” vinyl picture disc.

That dull stabbing pain in your chest, I can understand why in the ages before it was thought that our emotions were from the heart, still said to be in poetry and song today I guess. When some one you care about disappoints you or hurts you even if it is not intentional.
The worst is when the word, actions or whatever the transgression might be cut deeper to your core than you expected, and you realise you care more than you thought.
Great movie too, with many more blues songs along the way all sung by the legendary Samuel L. Jackson.
Some Triva
Cedric Burnside and Kenny Brown, the members of Lazarus’ band, are the grandchildren of legendary (but relatively unknown) blues singer R.L. Burnside. They played in his band while he toured up until his death in 2005. Additionally, the reverend (played by John Cothran Jr.) is named R.L. On a side note, features of Lazarus (played by Samuel L. Jackson), such as his hair and his history with the Juke Joint, are remarkably similar to Burnside’s.
Animation, Old style film, Black & White… and a sultry voice what more could you want.
First time I’ve heard of Lana Del Rey but wow, what a voice. There is a Youtube Mix of her if you like to check her out. Though I should mention that she has a rather sad soft melodic style, most if not all are about love and usually tragic. So this won’t be played in any dance club anytime soon but I more a dark smoke filled whiskey lounge type blues joint… you know my kinda place.
High-res
then the dominant personalties took over
the sweet kid only wimpers in the dark lower corners of our mind now, too terrified to look up fo fear of seeing the draconian ideas swarming above.

The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck. For more information and behind-the-scenes footage, see http://www.LetsDoThis.com and http://www.okgo.net. Many thanks to Chevy for believing in and supporting such an insane and ambitious project, and to Gretsch for providing the guitars.

A story that captivated me once, where you have everything you could ever want but don’t realise it till they are gone. This song, that will forever remind me of it and that feeling, is The Blower’s Daughter by Damien Rice.
This is from the movie Closer (2004) with a stellar cast that truly makes the movie great.
We all have that girl who we watched walk away…
This is an old song that hits home, a bit of the blues, one of those songs best heard alone while sipping whisky on a soft leather couch.

Pic of this stunning girl is from a fellow tumblr, go check out Kacy Anne Hill
Went to see the Kongos live on Saturday in Greenside while they were doing an interview for 5fm. Have to admit I hadn’t heard of them before but I was highly impressed. Each of the band members sing and have wide array of influences. You can listen to most of their songs on Soundcloud.
